Just Great! More rumors. rofl..tut, tut, and I don't know anyone using AIM.

I use AIM and Gmail with iChat. It works fine. I never chat with my .mac account.


What if the rumored mapping or phone stuff that might be part of Leopard is only for .Mac users?

.Mac users can call people from their computers or get .Mac Earth or something similar.

Also, iCal needs to go online (add, edit, etc. from the Internet), storage needs to go way up, etc.

Give me something AOL and Google don't.

AOL just announced something that allows you to back up 5GB of data. .Mac gives you 1 GB. AOL is free, .Mac costs $99. I understand there are other features, but AOL has most of them too. It's not worth the $$ until some major improvements happen.

It would be really weird if Pegatron don't get a lot more information, and sooner, about Apple's product cycle than people reading tech blogs. The earlier released expected numbers were most likely already based on a new iPhone being released later this year.

Also, potential buyers of iPhones aren't scouring tech blogs for rumors about when the next iPhone will be launched. Nor do I see salespersons advice them to wait until September.

Yea.. But they dot have 7GB actually sitting there for that one customer. They might have 10 allocated to 10 customers and add as they need to, because I bet 99% of gmail users don't have 1Gb on there! People don't think about stuff like this...

So of EVERYONE had a 64gb iPad that was going to have auto sync to these servers, a 64gb space might work for 2 or 3 customers that only have half or a third of their iPad filled. When a company says you get 7GB they don't hol that space for you, they just allow you to use that much.

Yup, it's called Thin Provisioning.

Yes, dressing like a slut is a freedom in the Western World. This however does not mean it is a good idea. A woman who dresses like a slut is advertising that the best thing about them is their body. I don't know about y'all, but I value more than looks so someone who dresses in such bad taste is clearly a thing to avoid.

On the other hand I go out of my way to help women who act and dress well because it is more conductive to business. Ever tried to conduct a business meeting where a woman shows up dress very promiscuously? Seems I'm the only one who can concentrate in those kinds of settings.

The Burqua is worn to protect a woman's modesty and so they don't dress provocatively according to the standards of the country where the Burqua is worn.
Your views of what constitutes provocative dress is clearly less extreme than that but your opinion appears to be remarkably similar: "Women shouldn't dress provocatively."
It is wrong to make judgement of anyone based on how they are dressed: A woman (or man) may dress provocatively for a night out because they want to find a partner for the night or into the future. That doesn't mean they are an open door to any scumbag who thinks that they can violate them

u don't need .Mac to use iChat. you can use iChat with AIM account. and I keep hearing this rumor that MSN and Yahoo account might be added.

so sign up for a jabber account, and then use Transports to connect to MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, etc etc.

A lot of other services offer "simmilar" features, but none that i have seen/used/heard of offer the same integration that .Mac does.

I hope to get there at about 7AM.
I was able to register about 7AM on the 15th, but have not recieved any confirmation. Hope that all is in order.
Just updated the software on my 3G, but am looking forward to seeing what it is like on the new hardware. Sounds Really Good so far...

I wonder how many of these posts are trolls? I haven't had any issues whatsoever with 4.3.1. I also didn't have any problems with 4.3; battery life has been absolutely stellar and call performance actually improved in 4.3.1.

The timing of all these "bitching" posts just seems suspicious.

Or maybe you aren't using one of the affected phone models, or maybe it only affects people in areas with a weak signal, or perhaps you simply haven't noticed the drop because your battery life is still "good enough". For myself, the drop in battery life is quite apparent because I went from having my unjailbroken 3GS make it through the day easily to me needing a charger to make it through the last hour of work (yes, Ping is turned off).

How is the timing of these "bitching" posts suspicious? Wouldn't it be natural to note a problem after the patch is released and you install it on your phone? Wouldn't it be equally natural to hope that the next patch fixes it?

Just because you are apparently unaffected doesn't mean the problem isn't real. 4.3 destroyed my battery life, 4.3.1 didn't fix it, here's hoping 4.3.2 does.

TomTom or Garmin wouldn't help Apple that much. Garmin and TomTom both license either Teleatlas or Navteq for road data and they don't have access to much else since most of their devices are "offline" devices. Google has used Google Maps to build up a lot of data (they currently provide their own traffic on Google maps by curating all the data from mobile GMaps users, etc). A lot of people are missing out on the fact that "maps" that people expect today is a lot more than just road data. Getting access to road data is not that complicated for Apple to obtain. The rest is very complicated. Currently Google is the leader in this and there really isn't a close second (although Bing is doing some innovative things in this area).


TomTom owns TeleAltas but they license their data out to everyone just like Navteq. That is their bread and butter.

Seems like every time I update iOS I get the cable image on my iPhone and I have to do a complete restore. It always seems like I have to do a few strange steps and I don't always get all my apps back.
