I had an RFE which they received on Feb 8th, still no response after 12 weeks.
Is there anything to do here, or just wait and twiddle my thumbs?!

Do not trust what the consulate website says
In 2001 i had my passport renewed in NY
they insisted...and were adamant...that it had to be 11 mnths to expiry not 12 mnths...it makes no sense but they don't care.
they also don't care what the web site says.
i was told that if i wanted to travel i could get a temporary passport, since mine was full...and btw it was damaged (old, overused and beginning to come off at the sea...which is why i wanted a new one) so i would pay a large penalty, and a mnth later when i returned a could again apply for a new passport since it would be 11 mnths to expiring.
make sense if you can!

I think it can actually create huge heartburn. This is not intended to allow filing I-485 before PD is available. Rather it is to introduce one more hoop to jump over. Now I-485 will be "By invitation" after you successfully complete pre-screen.
Picture this. your I-140 is approved. YOu fill the pre-screen registration. They are supposed to do backgrond, EVL, name check etc etc... During all of this, you did not actually file I-485. Suddenly your PD becomes current becuase DOS has moved dates forward so as not to waste Visas. Still you cannot file I-485 because your pre-screen is not complete.
Basically their processing bottleneck will be shifted to pre-screen and potentially take away the interim benefits of EAD and AP even if they would be otherwise qualified to file for 485.

Our demand should be reasonable.. The law makers knows what kind of people they want. One may have MBA or MA, and they may feel their degree is valuable to America. However it is up to the lawmakers to decide what they want.
One guy was asking whether social science considered as science as it is having science. I am not undermining any degree or any branch. We have to appricate atleast they are excempting STEM from numarical count.

What america need at this moment is innovation, research, new technology, alternate energy to overcome growing energy crisis, environmental care health care, nanotechnology, any advanced research to keep america in leading edge. Go online and file AR11 right away, by giving out your pending case numbers you can update the address. After an hour or so, call USCIS customer service and verify whether the address has updated or not; also ask them to resend the card to your new address. You will receive a address change confirmation letter at your new address.
I went online to change address.
It didn't ask for pending case#'s anywhere.
I tried calling customerservice but I get this message that CSR work only between 8-6 Mon-Fri and is asking me to call back later though I called at 10am.

If retrogression continues Im seriously thinking about retuirning to India in a few yrs once I meet my savings goals. However I have some questions of parents of kids who have been in India/US schooling system.
1) After what grade/standard do you feel that a child born and raised in USA cant integrate into Indian education system. (I was thinking 1st standard).
2) What things can we do at home to prepare child for entry into Indian school system from here. Is Montesorri education most comparable to India Nursery/KG ?
3) Any issues with US born citizen getting admitted to Indian schools (Convent schools - government aided or private). Will it be a competitive disadvantage for US citizens, do they have to pay more fees that Indian nationals ?

Yes. I sent my ead renewal app on friday to reach on saturday. On saturday, when I checked the status, it was exactly the status you have written. When I checked again this morning (Monday), it said the mail was accepted at 5.30 am this morning.
I find it hard to believe the mail was delivered to and was signed by someone at USCIS at 5.30 in the morning. So I think it is just a problem with USPS and the way they update status.

I doubt that. Returning after a long period on AP would sure make the POE officer grill that person, as AP is supposed to be used in case of emergencies and humanitarin grounds. I was grilled at IAD on return after 30 days and the POE officer asked me to present documentary evidence of the emergency to travel outside US.
The officer you met did not know the difference between AP applied on humanitarian grounds and AP applied based on pending I-485.
My wife entered NEWARK after 6 months in India ( using I-485 based AP) and no questions were asked although the waiting time inside the secondary inspection room was really long.

I have few questions on filling AP document.
1) What could be the best reason to write on 131 document. USCIS says it should be family emergency or business. I am going on family visit. If i write "Family visit" will it be a problem ie RFE from USCIS saying that reason for travel is not good or something else.
2) I live in Phoenix, Arizona. Should i send 131 to texas service center or california. All my 485 & 140 were with TSC. Coz when i goes to USCIS website, Arizona state is not covered by TSC.

As soon as you use EAD, your H1B status is voided. I have read that if you have worked less then 6 months on EAD then there are chances that you could get back on the same H1.
Now, once 6 months (180) days have passed, your unused H1 is supposed to get cancelled.
You may want to check with some good attorney though.

You are right that to get registered in US I would have to marry in US. That's why I was asking if I even need to get it registered in US to file for my green card. Response I got on this forum was Indian registration certificate is fine.
I want to restate that I got my green card on August 9th 2010. So I need to be married prior to this date for my wife to derive her green card status using mine.

Your current employer experience has to be prior to your labor filing date (PD). You can not use the experience you got after the filing date.
You can use your experience with current employer if the future job is substantially different than your current job.

Do you mean, file I-140 first and wait till it's approved before you file for 485? If that's what you are thinking, my advise is that filing for 485 is not a luxury that you can avail yourself whenever it suits you. You must grab the chance as soon as your PD is current becaue you never know when it would be current again unless of course you fall in to EB2 ROW or a higher category. And please note that these days I-140 takes much longer than 6 months to get approved and Premium Processing is no longer in the offer.
