No, that will not erase everything, but what it will hopefully do is direct your computer to your startup disk so you will get back into Lion to do what you need (maybe back everything up?)
The re-install snow leopard insert your DVD, then restart the computer. Hold down the option bottom when you here the chimes and hold it until your boot options appear. One of them will be the DVD. Select it and wait for the installer to load (it may take a while). But honestly, get your paper done first and worry about that tomorrow.
haha alright but somthing worse just happened: now it shows like the gray screen but then a bunch of text appears on the left side of the screen...it looks like code running and stuff. then the whole thing freezes and a message like swipes down the screen and says u need to restart your computer, hold the power button blah blah blah. sooo wat now? should i try that thing u suggested to see if it works regardless?
oh and btw i finished my paper :D

Get an interface with AT LEAST 2 XLR inputs.
If you're consider M-Audio, I'd suggest the Fast Track Ultra as a better buy. It costs a little more, but offers you "room to grow" in the future.
Just wondering, do you have firewire capabilities as well? If so, I consider firewire to be the better choice for an audio interface.
If you start thinking of firewire, I suggest you also check out the Echo "AudioFire4" interface. A bit more expensive @$299, but worth the money.
I've been using CAD mics and have gotten very good results from them. You might check out the M-179 -- it has 3 or 4 selectable polar pickup patterns.

i would just like the flexibility of not being tethered to my desk...i like to work in different environs.
i know it may seem silly to some, but im willing to pay �90 for that.
i dont even know what my room looks like yet, so i dont know.

I say go for it. All signs are pointing towards the big improvements this year being in software updates. Will the new iPhone have faster specs and a better camera? Yeah. Will it be dramatically different than the i4? I don't really think so. I think the i5 will have a few hardware upgrades and a LOT of software upgrades that the i4 will also enjoy.
So you've got that on the one hand and the fact that it's not coming 'till the fall in the other hand. Put them together and I don't think 'buy now' is bad advice.

Tried to do a search, but couldn't find anything.
I want to extend my bluetooth range on an iMac in order to use peripherals in the next room.
Not very tech savvy wrt opening up the Mac and soldering on a new antenna. Are there any other options?

I'll post it elsewhere when I get home. I have seen a number of very similar problems that seem to stem from bad wu's so I'll keep trying. It would be my luck though to have the first wu be bad making me think my set up isn't right.

Judging by the video and screen shots of Lion it doesn't seem like there are that many elements left that use appearance colour anymore anyway. Seems like active buttons and progress bars are the only ones that use still use this colour. It's gone from Scroll Bars, Group Tabs, Popup Lists.
Yes I'm hoping like Highlight Colour it becomes completely user choice with a few well chosen default colours. I do prefer Graphite personally it's just tones things down to be less garish so although with extreme reduction in use the blue may not be so bad.
Any sign that they maybe standardizing on a sidebar background colour?
What with a couple of greys and a blue across various Apple apps. it would be good if this was user definable as well?

I just recently downloaded Wiretap and also record live streaming radio from iTunes.
The only way I could get these streams to cd was to re-assign audio prefs in Wiretap, to the .aif Quicktime setting and have the file saved on the desktop. Then re-import those AIFF files to iTunes, then burn.
Of course if you have Toast you can avoid using iTunes to burn the disc entirely.
I hope you get it working...

Thank you so much! I've been searching everywhere and wasn't able to find a concrete answer. That just makes AppleCare even more of a no-brainer!
I'm in the same boat - the nearest Apple Store is over an hour away. Luckily we have two stores near here - Mactown and MacDepot. You don't even have to call Apple first - you can just take it in. A friend of mine near here had her power adapter fry her Macsafe board inside her Macbook. Took it to Mactown, and the next day the board and the adapter were both replaced no charge. Saw the repair invoice that they were billing Apple for and it was over $600. Definitely paid off. :D

Seriously, I think the only real user-serviceable upgrades are the RAM and HDD. Beyond that, you'd be doing some soldering, I think.

I purchased Logic Studio (Pro Logic 9 version) in mid December last year. I'm on a steep learning curve having moved over from Cubase SX3. I was facing the prospect of an upgrade fee to the latest Cubase and buying some other music utilities or jumping ship and paying full price on Logic Studio. Well, I'm happy to say that I'm able to do everything I was doing before using Cubase with Logic Studio plus much more. It's not a 100% clear to me how it compares with the latest Cubase 5, which now integrates many more features than in SX3, but it seems that a lot of Steinberg's sampling stuff (Halion) still has to be bought separately. I'm also really getting to love the Logic Studio interface. I've imported a few of my really complex projects now that included multiple live recorded band audio tracks, overdubbed audio tracks and some step time, real time and score entered MIDI tracks and working on them is much easier. The audio editing features are superior, plus the MIDI stuff sounds much better.
It was mentioned above about purchasing a MIDI interface. I already had one because I was using a JV-1010 synthesiser with Cubase, but now, with Logic Studio, the included synthesisers have sounds that are superior in quality and editing features that leave it for dead, plus you get a fully featured sampler which is just awesome. (I normally don't talk like that but I'm not sure how else to put it, it's freaking awesome.) I've already started building up instruments based on my own recorded samples as I'm interested in composing using sounds sampled from sources other than instruments. I guess you could call it musique concr�te, but I have my own ideas about what it is. Anyway the upshot is that my JV-1010 is taking a back seat and only getting dusted off when I need to check a project that needs exporting from Cubase to Logic Studio.
