Since the topic of giving preference to professional athletes has come up, I'd like to relay an the experience I had when I came to the U.S. for a job interview in August of '01; when going through U.S. customs at Logan Airport (this was pre 9/11), I was arbitrarily "singled out for interrogation" for TWO HOURS! During that time, a customs official made some small talk with me while we waited for the supervisor to arrive and he asked me if I was a hockey player (since I am Canadian) to which I replied "no"; he then informed me that was too bad because otherwise I would pass through without any problems or questions! Too bad they didn't "single out" Atta and the boys the same way two weeks later- or maybe they went through as hockey players!

I disagree a bit, he can very well work in McDonald's as a burger flipper on EAD after 180 days of filing of I-485. However, He must show a good faith job offer in the LC category (same or similar) at the time when his I-485 is about to be approved i.e. dates are current and his file is in IO's hands.
After 180 days of I-485 filing and before his petition is ready to be approved, alien can work anywhere. He has no burden during that period.

If the GC is approved prior to your marriage and if your spouse is here, you are golden. You simply apply for I-485 (family based). If your spouse is not in USand you have GC, you will need to file for follow to join visa and it will take some time (I dunno how many years).
i think you didn't get me,here is my question , if a person got married after applying i-485 and not able include his wife due to PD current date issue before his GC got approved, is there any way to get out from this situation , please let me know you one

Search SDL its a nice way to learn graphics and moving imges and such.

Whoa! The guy says he wants to learn Win32 and you point him at SDL? Interesting! :)
Everything that you want to do can be achieved without touching DirectX or OpenGL (and hence SDL), and using them will only confuse you if you're looking to learn to write Windows code.
I'd recommend attempting your problem using nothing but Win32 and the core C++ functionality - IMHO, you should avoid muddying the waters with other APIs.
Just my $0.02.

I did submit through mail when I applied last year and it took for ever. My personnel preference DO NOT try that option. They atleast need 45 to 60 days for the PCC to be issued.

Dyekek12 - my friend....We all are here only wishing the best for each other.! There has to be a reason why majority of folks who responded to to ur post in fact agree with what i had to say...This country is full of opportunity - no doubt about that.! But boy - one has to heavy, heavy price for that.!! A price that a lot of folks on this forum have to come to see - one that is not worth it.!. Yes - i am talking about the GC. Something that promises you all the freedom, flexibility, mobility that each one of is entiltled too.! But the road to get the GC is a road better not taken.! The only reason most of the folks here think alike - because we're already on this extremely bumpy road...invested time, $$, energy into all this.! And we all have been bought to a stage where we are standing outside the temple but are not allowed inside to seek blessings.! We don't know when we will be allowed inside..?? This is the anxiety that ends up eating u inside.!! Extremely uncomfortable, uneasy and anxiety filled scenario.!!

Hi,
My wife's EAD is expiring on 8/3, and the renewal was filed on 5/19 w/ notice date 5/24.
We have just requested expedite request but may not get it in time.
She just entered into USA using AP in July.
485 was filed in Aug 07.
If she continues to work till the EAD is processed, would she be protected under rule 245K? Does she need to stop working immediately?
And what happens if she does not get the EAD by Aug 19 (90 days)? Would the infopass office issue an interim EAD based on the application?

I guess the initial question my miguy still remains unanswered.
His question was about the validity period of the card and the start date of that validity period that is printed on that card and not the date when you activate the EAD status.

I heard that people who ported their Old Priority date are taking that long a time as yours. Is your a fresh application or did it used Older Priority Date.
Else you may be a victim of IT issues they had initially with perm.
Anyway, There is a long wait now for filing concurrent 140/485..

Many people with PD current are hesitating to apply for 485 as they want to wait for I140 approval to save 485 fees. This is very wrong and in case the dates retrogress again (there is a good chance), you will actually end up losing several thousands of dollars because you tried to save one thousand dollars.
Could you please clarify:
- what's the logic for not applying for 485 (when 140 is pending)? how can that save you any money?
- did you mean premium processing 140?

Once you are on AOS status you do not need H4. If you have renewed it that's fine it does not matter.
My wife came to us in 2004 and she got her EAD/AP in 2007 and I did not apply H4 for her ever since. We have have gone out of country and come back in on AP.

I have still not converted my I-140 to premium with my current employer, though I intend to right away. But, that will take a month (upto 15 bus. days) and then say 2 weeks to try to get the copy of I-140.

If she is qualified enough ask her to find a new employer who is willing to sponsor her a H1B.
She can transfer her status from H-4 to H1B and it will not be counted against the annual H1B quota.
Ppl please at least give a disclaimer. This sentence, said with such authority is completely false! The ONLY way you are not counted against the annual H1B quota is if you are RENEWING your existing H1B (and you have years left on it of course).
Think before you write..

Did you already applied for H1 extention and got RFE or you are just assuming you might get RFE. I recently applied extention for another 3 years and got it successfully. Our AOS is also pending. So dont worry. Anyway it is you choice to use EAD and extend every year.
