Invite the Senators to this meeting.
Make them come since we pay Taxes. That way , they know that there is legal Immigration Community .
Invite the Heads of DMV so that they can address our driving problems
Invite SSN people local heads.
When we do this, we can pay for their expenses to join us in that meet.
I am open to it. Not only by contribution but also working.
Try to get IV members to join the State chapters first. Try to get the community to support IV first. Try to get the community make phone cals send letters first.
It is a step by step process. We have to get enough buzz and enough support from within our own community before we can call politicians or VIPs to come to our meets and greets

H4 people used to use TaxID instead of SSN in their tax returns (joint filing for ex.). What do they use when they get SSN after EAD ? Do they use SSN or just the Tax ID. Is there any requirement that they inform IRS that they got SSN and start using it instead ?

No. Both times it was a large company (one has an agreement with a big law firm to handle immigration-related issues). I asked my current employer's attorney about it and she told me not to worry, they never had issues with AC21 portability (employer has 120,000+ employees). She was right regarding my case.

Hi All
I have a question regarding visitors visa, my parents got multiple Entry 10 years visa in 2007, but have not visited me so far, but this december my Mom is visitng me and in Feb my father( as to avoid harsh winter weather in East Coast), they will leave back in May 2009.
My Question is will there be any issue as their visa was issued in 2007 but they are visiting now
Do I need to send any new documents( I have moved onto EAD )
Looking forward to hear suggestions.
Hi .. a quick personal experience with a similar scenario.. My Mom visited after 3 yrs of travel visa issual.. at the port of entry the imm officer asked her for the intent of visit and also asked how long she intended to stay..no other questions

got my 2yr EAD on Apr 1 and now a soft LUD on my 485 on 4/10.........and my date is nowhere close.....its feb 07....not sure whts going on.....I discussed it with an attorney in worse cum worse case I will be exploring the self employment clause onyou EAD......
Anyways if they issue an RFE isn't it generally mentioned there....in my case its not stating any status change........just a soft LUD

I wonder what is the need of such crap from these airlines? Why not fly directly when service is available. Racism in Europe is a known fact and is evident everywhere. Best is to boycott their service and they will realize the result. Until people start doing it on massive scale they will not provide proper service.

Guys, I seen many people who became devotee of Sathya Sai Baba to get instant gratification such fast money, success etc. But when they realized that Just by being his devotes, they can't just wipe out their past Karma and get instant results so they were angry and started evil saying and comment against Baba. Unless you really follow his teachings and discipline and understand what he has done to India and all mankind, it is ignorance to judge him, he is beyond our limited thinking of instant gratifications and thinking of selfishness.

Can you get conventional loan with 10% down in New Jersey?
ANd that too for H1B/EAD. My broker says that you cant get conventional loan with work permit status.
Is that true?
The FHA option he is giving ,looks expensve to me.

I will be taking up a new job and I have been told by the new employer that, benifits will start after 30 days.
I presently have insurence through my employer. My understnading is that, insurence stops the day I leave the present employer. Now how do i handle the stop gap in insurence to be on safer side...??
Any help is appreciated...

Dear Friend I totally agree with you. I was with one of these employers and have moved away from them. As suggested by some members you can report about these fraudulent activities to DOL. I know it is dufficult to leave these employers as they make the employees to sign bonds and try to capture all the money that they have acquired in PF etc back in the native country.
These employers are to be blamed for the current economy condition of this country and the condition of immigrants like us.
I know there are some members in this forum who will try to shout you down and make you quite.
But I feel if one believe in what is right then one should go ahead irrespective of what others think.
Now that you have left your abusive employer, would you mind disclosing your ex-employer information?

seriously, I feel the green card process is getting worse and worse.
my friends told me that things were not that bad prior to 2002.
starting 2002, it went downhill like a free fall. I have friends who haven't got their labor (turned in late 2002) done. some of them got laid off recently, and they have to go from zero again. they're seriously considering leaving the States.
Green card is like a rope on the neck.
I will come back often to update and do my share of contribution.

I had written 2 long posts in the past detailing my own views on how to hire an attorney and how to deal with them when you hire them. You may want to go through them in the threads. If someone can dig them we can try to create a thread dedicated on 'advice when you hire an attorney'. "We presume some folks are still waiting on their July 2nd cases to be returned and are debating refiling new cases rather than waiting. Unfortunately, there is a risk of not getting the package back before August 17th and some people will need to refile without proof of the earlier filing."
Shouldn't any application rejected on July 2nd have already reached our lawyer's office by now?
Also, if my appliction, filled on July 2nd, has not been returned yet, shouldn't we assume that it will be accepted?
Greg's blog is referring to the very few applications that when filed to TSC were not accepted (as opposed to accepting and then sending it back). NSC as far as I can see has been holding onto applications all the time. Even in the worst case that they return after the 17 th of august by mistake, we can send it back since the original application was returned in error as per the revised visa bulletin.
This VB fiasco has made us all a little bit too paranoid I guess :)

He does not have the stamp in his passport for the new employer. If he has already quit his old employer for which he has the H1B stamp, then he probably must have a new stamp(for latest H1) for re-entering.
First of all, he would be using his new I-94 that is attached to the new H1 he just got from his new employer. So his departure record would show him working for new employer. When he comes back, if he doesnt have visa Hstamp for the new employer, then it would be a problem, I am pretty sure.
Better check with a lawyer newh1user. I am pretty sure you will need new H1 stamp that is tied to new I-797 if you exit USA and give your latest I-94 when leaving.
Also, think about getting an H1 stamp overseas in Europe while you are at this situation. If you have a bachelors or masters degree from United States, then getting H1 stamping in countries other than your home country is not a big challenge.

I am still using H1 ( valid thru sept 09 ), and have EAD ( AOS pending ) under EB3 ( PD is Oct 2003). Still with same company.
Over years my responsibilities increased, ( DBA to DataArchitect ) and 1 new employee reporting to me. Will these factors help me move to EB2 ? what will be the procedure?
Please advice.
