Even some Attorney's and Law firm says you can start working once you FedEx document to USCIS or Receipt of FedEx at USCIS. Its always good to wait until you get Receipt number from USICS which is an official document.

greatguy, you sound like a great guy. But honestly the idea isn't too great...especially nowadays with such much immigration scrutiny, tightening of regulations, deportations, etc. A five year old labor sub, that too unapproved, isn't going to be approved easily...maybe you should file a PERM based petition and get that approved in a month or two and that way atleast you secure a 2006 PD. If some relief comes in, you're wait shouldn't be too long...

Kothuri you are most helpful. I agree and think I will benefit from filing one, but am concerned about the cost involved doing so.
I currently cannot rely on my former employers lawyer and will have to pay for this myself.

Do we need to pay $340 for the second renewal of EAD and AP?
USCIS page says, no fee only if you have filed 485 after July 30, 2007.
I also have paid for EAD and AP for all of us,wife,son and myself.

I dont mean to be greedy or selfish but from a purely technical analysis this is extremely bad news for EB2\Eb3 India and China folks. Eb4 and Eb5 account for 10% of the 140000 EB green cards every year. If EB4 and Eb5 were discontinued these visas would have spilled over into Eb1,2,3 category. With the Eb4 and Eb5 extension in the senate bill we are screwed royally. There is heavy misuse in the Eb4 category, so much so that it Eb4 and EB5 may retrogress for India!!!!, there will never be any spillover from this category.
What amazes me is congress has been consistently backing eb4 and eb5 every year by extending it but nobody cares about eb2 and eb3. Not even provisions like STEM are making it.
To people who say stem will not happen, visa recapture will not happen and only solution is CIR because hispanic caucus or anti immigrants will not allow piece meal immigration legislation, I wonder how EB4 and Eb5 are consistenly being passed every year by the congress.

1a) Both translated and original are needed and might be sufficient. As of my knowledge, they are issuing them in local language and English currently in my native place.
1b) DOB Cert by itself from the Consul's office will not be sufficient.
1c) Every 485 applicant needs DOB certificate. So your wife does.
3a) It depends on a variety of things like if you had chicken pox before or not. If you had been to school in US and have any immunization record / some sort of health record you submitted to them when you came in, the doctor might accept it. AFAIK, It is a 1 hr process how ever appointments might be 2 weeks away :)
3b) Tests are valid for one year.

I wonder how the movement is going to spell out over the next few months. Especially for those with Priority Dates between May 2001 - September 2001. As far as I know the dot com bust had hit hard during this period and not many companies were filing for Green cards during this time.
I agree wth gravitation that lot of people have switched to EB2 from EB3. Obviously everything is up in the air and next few months will tell us better.

Correct me if I am wrong...but I believe a bill has to pass in both Senate and Congress and signed by President to be enacted into law. Currently the H1/EB bills are only presented in Senate. Any comments?

My PD is Dec 2005 (EB2) and I'm on EAD. I dont know when I'll get the GC but hoping that I'll get it in the next year. I already got an RFE so I'm not expecting another one. The question is, if I get laid off now, can I buy a business (say a convenience store or a subway) and run it (while on EAD)? and would it cause any problems now or in the future when applying for citizenship? I know you have to work in same or similar industry, but my industry is hard hit with recession and I don't think I can find a similar job. So how will they enforce this? Or do they even care?

Why not use people who already agreed to volunteer before by looking at their profiles?
Unfortunately we need folks who are active on the forums (and hence must have read this thread).
Also, we did not really clarify what a volunteer does (when someone registers), so to ensure that only folks who are really interested reply.

I just wanted to bump this and get people's opinion on what paper work and other things we should be aware of by not changing the employers who sponsered our green card, but have applied for 485, have I-140 approved (180 days passed since I-140 approval and I-485 receipt dates) and received EAD/AP.
I guess lot of people are in this category. So far, the only advise I have seen is: Extend H1 instead of using EAD.

Any word on this issue? Is somebody from core going to create a forum where they can post delayed updates?
Without access to donor forum , you have no clue *if* there has been any updates posted. You are assuming that there has been *some* updates posted and there possibly could be or there possibly is none. Whatever be the case, if there something for which ground level volunteers will be required, it will definitely get posted on open forums. If it is a strategic thinking/planning, I doubt still if it will be posted on the donor forum as such things need to be kept to a close group of people until you are ready for implementation. Disclosing this earlier will not work in favor of such strategic planning.
And of course, if there is a new bill passed or others, it will be everywhere in media - you may just know it when it gets passed rather than a couple of hours/days/weeks early.
If you believe in the cause of IV and I'm assuming that you do since you are here - I'd say go ahead and support it in all possible ways and dont worry too much about donor forums. Give or take 3 months plus a month , it will lose its charm.
