Yeah right!! buying houses is all hunky-dory when you have all cushy jobs and economy is booming. When economy slows down there will be some people who may lose their jobs with 3000$ mortgages sitting on their head!! And that builder /bank who lobbied for you GC will come knocking on your door asking for payment.
And believe there are defaulters among these highly qualified legal immigrants too!
So again, how did you solve the housing slump problem in the first place???
no body said about actually solving anything. the point is to use it as a lobbying factor. Greenspan said that the problem is around 200,000 to 300,000 houses. if they are knocked out of the inventory then there will be stablization else the bottom will fall out. now if the immigrant community was united (across national lines) and if we had one organization like IV or someone - who had leverage to talk to builders etc -something along the lines of a union - then this would have made a big difference - but of course the reality is that people get EAD and think their problems have been solved and run to buy a house - the fun part will begin if a recession actually happens

If I try to use my AC21 then does title matter?
Example:
new offer has a title of "Lead software engineer".Current position is "Systems
Engineer".
...
Iad
USCIS is not just working on technical people; and they themselves are not technical people. Therefore, just try to have description of new job as close to the original description in LC, as possible (use same words). It is a subjective area. Both titles point out that you are some sort of software engineer, so, I belive, it should be ok. Try to avoid "managing" or "suprervising" in your new job description if it was not in the original description.

Ask your law firm why they are charging you so much. Below are the rates charged by my lawyer and should not be too different from what most of the others charge. If the lawyer doesn't answer, then show these numbers to your employer and lodge a strong protest with them.
Adjustment of Status
Principal applicant $1,000
Dependent applicant $500
Work Authorization Cards (each) $200
Advance Parole Travel Documents(each)$200
If you are working on an hourly basis, does your employer pay you when you're on the bench? If he doesn't, keep record of that and once you get your GC sue him over back wages and complain to DOL. These people don't deserve any thing better.

over the next over the next 75 years, new legal immigrants entering the United States will provide a net benefit of $611 billion in present value to Americas Social Security system, according to official Social Security Administration data.
Over 50 years, new legal immigrants entering the United States will provide a net benefit of $506 billion in present value to Americas Social Security system.
The 2004 Trustees Report, utilizing the intermediate projections, assumes an annual level of 800,000 legal immigrants and 200,000 emigrants (people who leave the U.S. legal immigrant population) for a net level of 600,000 per year. The Trustees Report also assumes a net level of 300,000 annually for other immigration (illegal immigration).
The average age for those settling here as part of this other immigration each year is 21 years for men and 22 years for women, which is younger than for legal immigrants. The SSAs Chief Actuary Office analysis discussed here assumed no change in illegal immigration, though it notes that it is possible that illegal immigration could increase in response to legal immigration cutbacks, which could partly offset the negative effect of legal immigration reductions.
Federal Reserve Bank Chairman Alan Greenspan has pointed out the important role that immigration can play in addressing Social Security. In February 2003 testimony before the Senate Special Committee on Aging, Greenspan stated, The aging of the population in the United States will have significant effects on our fiscal situation. In particular it makes our Social Security and Medicare programs unsustainable in the longrun, short of a major increase in immigration rates, a dramatic acceleration in productivity growth well beyond historical experience, a significant increase in the age of eligibility for benefits, or the use of general revenues to fund benefits.
More recently, Chairman Greenspan noted the advantageous position of the United States versus the more rapidly aging populations of Europe and Japan. While between 2000 and 2030 the number of working age adults will decline in Italy (-19%), Japan (-15.8%), and Germany (-15.1%), the working age adult population will increase by 18.9% in the United States over that period due primarily to immigration. In concluding his August 27, 2004 speech at a symposium sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas, Greenspan said, Aside from the comparatively lesser depth of required adjustment, our open labor markets should respond more easily to the changing needs and abilities of our population; our capital markets should allow for the creation and rapid adoption of new labor-saving technologies, and our open society should be receptive to immigrants. These supports should help us adjust to the inexorabilities of an aging population. Nonetheless, tough policy choices lie ahead.

There is something seriously wrong here.....one gets red dots for even simply truthfully recording answers to some questions asked by administrator......or are the red dots simply to protest/ express displeasure with the fact that my GC process was not as difficult as some other people.......its like "misery likes company" - i am miserable bcos i dont have a GC and hence am pissed off at this guy who despite not being crazy about GC got his in 7 months.........so i will give him red dots..............
Guys - get over it.........look at the general tone of posts from all on this particular thread - GC did not make any "big" change to most folks.......
For the more rational beings - i genuinely hope that you get your gcs within reasonable wait times and the waiting time does not take away from the personal and professional successes you deserve!
I gave you a green, if that helps.. perhaps someone did not notice the EB category in your signature. In any case, I agree it was unfair.
I hope you will stay engaged with the IV community, and help the rest of us in achieving our goals. We need everyone, not just those waiting for a GC, in this effort.

Hello Guys,
I am planning to utilize AC21. My PD is OCT 2005, EB2 India, I-140 was approved in June 2006 and I-485 filed on 2nd July 2007.
The question I have is if my current employer can do anything, I mean anything at all, now?
Thank you.
Employer can withdraw I-140 even after 180 days. If possible, avoid that scenario. It will cause RFE or, worse, NOID. But ultimately you'll prevail.

Hi, our first set of APs are expired and we never renewed since we did not plan to go out of the US. Now we need to apply for new AP, is it possible to apply online or since w eMUSt apply by mail since we don't have a valid AP at present.
Anybody in similar situation? Can somebody PM the cover letter to me?
Thanks,
Madhuri
We let our APs expire in April 2009. We applied for new AP (e-filed) in Oct. 2009 and got AP valid for 1 year (from Oct. 2009 to Oct. 2010 - the AP was approved in 22 days). When I applied for new AP online, I don't remember if it asked for previous AP details or not. I don't think it did - even if it did I would have given the valid dates of the expired AP.
Hope this helps.

I dont think DOS will do any spillover, if by a miracle they do a quarterly spillover it can happen only in december, The whole idea of spillover is if there are any leftover visas they have to use it by the end of the year (i.e spetember 30) or if they do quarterly spillover as the law says then they have to do it by the end of the quarter i.e Dec 31, march 31, June 30.
If the eb2 does not move to atleast march 2005 then it means DOS is not doing quarterly spillover.
I don't have any high hope. I am guessing that Mr Oppenheim will do quarterly spill over of first quarter into first month of second quarter. So Lets wait for Jan bulletin..
I argue all members not to keep too much hope for Dec bulletin. Eb3 India will move little bit but few months only.

I'm not sure anything happens with these letters etc. We need something more concrete, something that grabs attention. Last time we did the flower campain, this time we need to do something different again. My idea was the two cents campaign (link in sig). But I'm sure you all have your ideas too and if we can come up with something unique that would be great. We need something more than just letters to the whitehouse. Maybe we can pick just one senator each week or each month or congressman who does not support legal immigration bills and send letters to him/her in co-ordination. If one person gets 1000 letters on the same day about a topic it might make the news?
definitely ..and I am sure lot of people agree ..flowers, marching etc is much better ..but till we get to that point ..let us send emails / letters atleast ...something better than nothing !!

Do you have 10+3 (Diploma)+1 or 10+2+3(Diploma)+1. If the second case, is 10+2 a requirement for enrolling in to the diploma ?
a 3 year diploma after 10th standard is not a bachelor degree. The US bachelor degree has 16 years of education.
How is the equivalency justified in the evaluation ?
